Exams & Cleanings

Prevent. Protect. Maintain.
More Than Just a Cleaning
Routine exams and professional cleanings go beyond brushing and flossing—they are the key to long-term oral health.
At Red Bank Smiles, we focus on early detection, preventive care, and a thorough, comfortable experience so your smile stays strong and healthy year after year.
Preventive Care for a Stronger Smile
What to Expect
At your first visit, our focus is on understanding you—not just your teeth. We’ll begin with a comprehensive dental exam, which includes a review of your medical and dental history, a digital scan of your teeth and mouth, a photographic series of your teeth and mouth, digital X-rays (if needed), an oral cancer and sleep breathing disorder screening, and a thorough evaluation of your teeth, gums, and bite.
This appointment allows us to gather the information we need to understand your oral health and partner with you on a plan that fits your goals.
In most cases, we do not perform a cleaning at the first visit. That’s because every patient has different needs, and we want to ensure we’re recommending the appropriate type of cleaning—whether routine or more specialized.
After your initial exam, we’ll guide you through next steps and schedule the appropriate hygiene visit based on your unique needs.

Proactive Care for Lifelong Oral Health
Regular exams and cleanings do more than keep your smile looking good—they help prevent cavities, gum disease, and other serious dental issues before they start. Dr. Klayman ensures your teeth and gums stay strong and healthy by removing plaque buildup and detecting early signs of decay or infection.
Staying consistent with routine hygiene visits is the best way to avoid costly treatments and maintain long-term dental wellness.

What You Need to Know About Dental Exams & Cleanings
Even with excellent at-home care, plaque and tartar build up over time. Professional cleanings remove what brushing can’t, preventing cavities, gum disease, and bad breath.
Most patients need a hygiene visit every six months, but those with gum disease or other concerns may require more frequent visits.
Not at all! Cleanings are gentle and tailored to your comfort. If you have sensitivity, we take extra care to ensure a smooth experience.
Our dental exams go beyond a quick look at your teeth. We take a comprehensive approach to evaluate your entire oral system. This includes checking for cavities, signs of gum disease, and tooth wear, as well as assessing the health of your muscles and jaw joints for stability and function. We also perform a thorough soft tissue and oral cancer screening and review X-rays when necessary.
Every exam is designed to give us a full picture of your oral health—so we can catch small issues before they become big ones and tailor a plan that’s right for you.
